Saxophonist and Musicologist Dr. Lukas Gabric has performed at the most notable venues around the globe and has published musicological articles and 6 method books. He recorded 3 CDs as a leader and collaborated on 7 further projects such as Derek Bermel’s Grammy-nominated Migrations. Dr. Gabric was a member of the European Generations Unit—an ensemble consisting of winners of the Swiss Generations Competition. In 2013 Dr. Gabric was a semifinalist in the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington D.C. and received the Best Soloist and Audience Choice Awards at the Getxo Jazz Festival in Spain in 2014. His composition “Fire Dance” was awarded an ASCAP Herb Alpert Award in 2016. Dr. Gabric teaches saxophone at Juilliard MAP. For his EMM masterclasses he shares his insights on the mastery of sound and tone production, open triads, how to make the most of your material, Coltrane changes, saxophone technique, and rhythm changes.
